Alexander Volkanovski fires another warning at Diego Lopes ahead of their UFC 314 title fight, fueling the anticipation for their clash

Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes

Alexander Volkanovski is sounding as confident as ever. With Ilia Topuria making a move to the lightweight division, the UFC featherweight title is up for grabs. Having lost his belt in a shock defeat to Topuria, Volkanovski has been eagerly waiting for his chance for a rematch. Now, while he didn’t get an opportunity to run it back with ‘El Matador,’ the title shot surely did not elude him. With UFC 314 slated to be his comeback fight, Volkanovski is shooting warnings to his opponent.

Now, Volkanovski is the dominant champion in the featherweight division. However, after losing back-to-back matches with Islam Makhachev at lightweight, ‘Volk’s confidence seemed to have taken a hit. And then followed the shocking KO from Ilia Topuria. Within days, Volkanovski was rumored to be retiring.

Thankfully, that is not the case, and the former champion is back. Speaking about his upcoming bout, the Australian issued a warning to his opponent, Diego Lopes.

“I think [Diego Lopes] is gonna absolutely hate being in these positions because he’s going to realize ‘I can’t stop this guy’… I’ll show the world, and him, that I’m just different,” said Volkanovski.

Surely, this is a really confident statement coming from the former champion. However, this was not the first time that ‘Volk’ has issued a stern warning to Lopes.

Unfortunately, those antics might just not be enough to win the featherweight title. At least, Alexander Volkanovski doesn’t think so!

Soon after the announcement of the UFC 314 main event, Volkanovski stated, “Happy you’re getting the opportunity to fight for the belt, but I’m still here. You ain’t having it. Sorry mate.”
