College basketball star Paige Bueckers has finally addressed the ongoing comparisons between her and WNBA rookie sensation Caitlin Clark — and she’s not holding back.

In a recent interview ahead of the 2025 NCAA season, the UConn guard made it clear that while she respects Clark’s talent, the constant side-by-side narratives are tired and, in her words, “lazy.”

“I respect Caitlin a lot. She’s a great player and doing amazing things at the next level,” Bueckers said. “But we’re different. We don’t even play alike. People just see points and hype and put us in the same box.”
Different Styles, Same Spotlight
Clark, now with the Indiana Fever, has built her reputation on long-range threes, high-volume scoring, and fiery leadership. Bueckers, meanwhile, is known for her court vision, smooth mid-range game, and unselfish playmaking.
Analysts have long debated who’s “better,” but Bueckers emphasized that the comparison ignores context and individuality:
“She shoots from the logo. That’s not my game. I create differently. I’m more surgical. But that doesn’t mean one is better than the other — it just means we’re not the same.”

Fans React to the Comment
Bueckers’ comments quickly went viral, sparking a fresh wave of debate among fans:
“She’s right. Comparing them is like comparing Steph Curry to Chris Paul,” one fan wrote.
“Let both women shine in their own way,” another said on X.
Some fans also noted the media’s tendency to pit top female athletes against each other, rather than celebrating their unique skill sets.

Eyes on the Future
While Clark is dominating headlines in the WNBA preseason, Bueckers is laser-focused on leading UConn back to a national title after battling through injuries over the last two seasons.
“My goal is simple — win. I’ve been through a lot, and I’m just grateful to be healthy and back out there,” she said.
With both Clark and Bueckers representing the future of women’s basketball at the highest levels, fans can expect to see both names dominating conversations — just not in the same way.
“There’s room for both of us,” Bueckers concluded. “Let me be me. Let her be her.”
