She’s one of the most electric rookies entering the WNBA this year.
She’s already a brand, a presence, and a force in the paint.
But if the latest training footage tells us anything, it’s this:

Angel Reese’s jumper still needs serious work.

The Footage: Raw Talent, But Rough Mechanics

In new clips circulating on social media from recent off-season workouts, Angel Reese is seen working on mid-range and three-point jumpers — a clear focus as she transitions to the pro level.

But the results?

Inconsistent release, stiff shooting motion, and lots of misses.

The shooting form still looks forced, with a slight hitch at the top and a lack of fluid follow-through. At times, she struggles with balance, especially when shooting off the dribble. Even during stationary drills, the mechanics don’t scream “WNBA-ready.”

Dominance in the Paint, Questions Beyond It

Let’s be clear: Angel Reese doesn’t need to be a knockdown shooter to dominate. Her rebounding, motor, and interior scoring are elite, and she’ll absolutely carve out a big role in the league based on those skills alone.

But in today’s WNBA — where bigs like A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart have added consistent jumpers to their game — developing a reliable shot is essential to becoming a complete, unstoppable player.

And right now, Reese’s perimeter game just isn’t there yet.

To Her Credit: She’s Working

One thing the footage also shows? Effort.
Reese is clearly putting in the time, working with trainers, staying late in the gym, and trying to extend her range. This isn’t a case of complacency — it’s a young star aware of her weaknesses and trying to fix them.

“I know what people say about my shot,” Reese said recently. “But I’ve never run from the work.”

And that’s why no one should count her out.

What It Means for Her Rookie Season

Expect defenses to dare Reese to shoot — at least early in the season. Until she proves she can make them pay, teams will clog the paint and try to neutralize her inside game.

But if she continues to work, stays confident, and develops even a respectable mid-range, she’ll be nearly impossible to guard.

The upside is still massive.
The work ethic is real.
But the jumper? Still a project.

Final Take: Broken, But Not Beyond Repair

Yes, Angel Reese’s jumpshot still needs work.
Yes, the footage confirms what many already suspected.

But this isn’t the end of the story — it’s just the beginning of a bigger evolution.

She’s not there yet.
But give her time — she just might prove everyone wrong.
