The WNBA is heating up like never before, with superteams forming, rookies rising, and legends chasing rings. With the 2025 season on the horizon, I did the impossible (and probably controversial): I ranked all 12 WNBA teams from worst to first based on roster talent, off-season moves, coaching, and—let’s be honest—vibes.

Let the debates begin.

 Phoenix Mercury

Sorry, Phoenix fans. I know you’ve got legends (Diana Taurasi forever), but this squad is in desperate need of a reboot. The chemistry hasn’t clicked, the defense is leaky, and they’re still figuring out the post-Griner era. Rebuild time is here—and it might get worse before it gets better.

Chicago Sky

They’ve got heart. They’ve got hustle. But they just don’t have the firepower. With no true superstar and a lot of question marks on offense, the Sky might struggle to keep up in a league that’s getting faster and deeper by the day.

 Seattle Storm

Jewell Loyd can’t do it all. And while they made some decent offseason moves, this roster still feels a year or two away from making real noise again. They’ll win some games, but a playoff run feels like a stretch unless someone unexpected breaks out.

Los Angeles Sparks

Every year, I want to believe. And every year, they let me down. The Sparks have talent and athleticism, but can they finally put it together? They’ve got the pieces—but they also have the drama. If it clicks, they could surprise. If not… another mid-season shakeup is coming.

 Atlanta Dream

They’re fast. They’re exciting. And Rhyne Howard is that girl. But Atlanta still needs to tighten up defensively and show they can close out tight games. A playoff berth feels likely—but a championship push? Maybe not quite yet.

 Minnesota Lynx

Napheesa Collier is a force, and the Lynx are one of those teams you never want to face in a playoff series. But depth could be an issue, and they’ll need their young core to take a big leap. Still, don’t sleep on them—they could sneak into the top 4 if everything clicks.

Washington Mystics

They’ve got experience. They’ve got size. And if everyone stays healthy (big “if”), they could absolutely make noise in the East. This is one of those “no one’s talking about them but they’ll win 22 games” type of teams.

Connecticut Sun

The Sun are perpetually underrated and somehow always in the semifinals. DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas continue to lead with grit and veteran savvy, and this squad knows how to win ugly. Don’t count them out. Ever.

 Dallas Wings

This team is big, strong, fast—and ready. With Arike Ogunbowale raining buckets and a frontcourt that bullies everyone, Dallas might finally be putting it all together. If the chemistry holds, they’re a legit title threat.

Las Vegas Aces

Wait, what?! The defending champs not at #1?! Yeah, I said it. The Aces are still insanely good, and A’ja Wilson is a walking MVP. But some offseason roster movement and a slightly older core means they might come back to Earth just a little. Still scary though.

New York Liberty

Sabrina. Breanna. Jonquel. Betnijah. This team is a cheat code on paper. If they finally figure out their spacing and can stay healthy, the Liberty could run the table. They came this close last year—expect them to come back hungrier than ever.

 Indiana Fever

You better believe it. With Aliyah Boston entering year 2 and Caitlin Clark bringing generational playmaking and shooting, the Fever are no longer just “the team of the future”—they are the team of the now. Add strong depth, coaching stability, and a whole lot of buzz?
This team might actually be ready to win it all.

Bold? Yes. Premature? Maybe.
But mark my words: Indiana Fever are about to make history.
