The heavyweight division just got a whole lot more interesting. After more than a year away from the UFC, Francis Ngannou — the former heavyweight champion and knockout artist — has hinted at a return to the Octagon. And it didn’t take long for Jon “Bones” Jones to respond… with a challenge.
The Predator Eyes UFC Comeback
During a recent interview on The MMA Hour, Ngannou opened up about his time away from the UFC and his current mindset. After a high-profile stint in boxing and a PFL deal that shook up the industry, the Cameroonian powerhouse now says he’s open to fighting in the UFC again — if the terms are right.
“I never closed the door,” Ngannou said.
“If they want to make the biggest fight in heavyweight history, they know where to find me.”
That “biggest fight” comment wasn’t random. Everyone knows who he’s talking about — Jon Jones.
Jon Jones Responds: “Let’s Make It Happen”
It didn’t take long. Within hours of Ngannou’s statement making headlines, Jon Jones, the reigning UFC heavyweight champion, fired off a response on social media:
“You already know I’m down. Let’s make it happen, big man.” 🐐
Jones, who has been sidelined with an injury since capturing the heavyweight belt, has repeatedly stated that Ngannou is the one fight he wanted most — and the one that got away. Now that the door is cracked open again, fans are losing their minds over the potential clash.
The Superfight That Almost Was
Ngannou vs. Jones was once billed as the superfight of the decade — before contract disputes, timing issues, and injuries derailed it. Fans were left wondering what might have been… until now.
Both men are arguably the most feared fighters in their divisions:
Ngannou: 17 KOs. Unreal power.
Jones: Undefeated in the Octagon. The most complete fighter in MMA history.
It’s the classic battle: power vs. precision, chaos vs. control.
Will the UFC Make It Happen?
The question now is: Will the UFC put aside past differences and book the most anticipated heavyweight fight in history? Dana White has been vague on Ngannou’s return, but the buzz is building — and the fans want it.
“If this fight gets signed, it might break every pay-per-view record the UFC has,” said one longtime MMA analyst.
Ngannou says he’s ready. Jones says he’s willing. The world says: book it.
Stay Tuned…
Could this be the moment the heavyweight division finally gets the undisputed fight it deserves? If Francis Ngannou really walks back into the UFC — and Jon Jones is waiting for him — we may be looking at the most epic comeback and showdown in UFC history.
