Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark remains sidelined due to a left quadriceps strain sustained on May 24 during a game against the New York Liberty. This marks her first time missing games in her professional career. Clark has missed three games so far and will not return for the upcoming weekend matches, including one against the Chicago Sky. However, she expects to be reevaluated over the weekend and could transition to a day-to-day status thereafter. Clark emphasized that she will not rush her return, prioritizing recovery over immediate play to avoid potential setbacks. While there is optimism she might return by next Tuesday’s game, she remains cautious, acknowledging that her condition can vary daily.
Throughout her rehabilitation, Clark has focused on maintaining a positive perspective, emphasizing her role as a supportive teammate and vocal presence on the bench. Sitting alongside the coaching staff has also offered her a unique learning experience. The Fever have gone 1–2 during her absence, also contending with injuries to Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham. Though Clark admitted she struggles with patience, she acknowledged the situation as a valuable learning opportunity.
The Fever’s next significant matchup is on June 14 against the unbeaten New York Liberty, who narrowly defeated them 90–88 in Clark’s last game, where she posted 18 points, 10 assists, and 10 turnovers. The 2024 No. 1 draft pick and reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year is averaging 19.0 points, 9.3 assists, and 6.0 rebounds per game.
Clark’s cautious approach to recovery underscores her commitment to long-term health and her determination to return to the court when fully prepared.
