Sean Strickland’s Coach Drops Significant Hint Of Parting Ways After Lacklustre UFC 312 Performance
Sean Strickland
Sean Strickland had high hopes for his UFC 312 rematch against Dricus Du Plessis. Coming into the fight, ‘Tarzan’ claimed that he would surely be reclaiming the title that he lost controversially. Unfortunately, things turned out to be quite controversial in the end. Soon after the match began, it was evident that Dricus Du Plessis was the more aggressive of the two. Throwing in a mixture of punches and kicks, Du Plessis looked like a champion.
On the contrary, Strickland looked quite timid in his approach. And despite several pep talks from his coach, Eric Nicksick, ‘Tarzan’ failed to bring in the much-needed firepower. Now, after the match was done and dusted, Eric Nicksick continued to feel discontent. Appearing on a podcast with Ariel Helwani, Nicksick poured out his frustrations.
“It was just uninspired fighting… it seemed like he was sleepwalking… I want to coach world champions,” said Nicksick. He further added, “It was tough, man. I was just trying to trying to dig him out of it, um, you know, through the rounds. I didn’t know if he was trying to collect data in the beginning or if it was just uh, a slow start.”
Well, Nicksick does have reasons to get angry. Between the rounds, Nicksick could be heard trying to push Strickland to strike more and get on the offense. Meanwhile, his performance not only upset his coach, but also got scathing criticism from Belal Muhammad.
Belal Muhammad Criticizes Sean Strickland
After a not-so-special performance by Strickland, Belal Muhammad seemed to be done with Strickland’s antics. Referring to the former middleweight champion’s big talks on social media, Muhammad took a nasty dig at ‘Tarzan.’
“He wants people to say that ‘he’s crazy, he’s nuts’. He’s not. He is just a racist little clown that’s hiding in the body of a fighter. He’s a coward,” said Muhammad.
Well, it is quite evident that the situation related to Sean Strickland looks quite adverse at the moment. Thus, it will be interesting to see how he can come back from the setback in the upcoming days.
