Jeremy Allen White looked and sounded just like Bruce Springsteen while performing his 1975 signature song Born to Run in the first trailer for Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper’s biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere, which dropped Wednesday morning.
The 34-year-old Bear star was so good at emulating the 75-year-old heartland rock legend’s raspy croon that fans were arguing in the comments of 20th Century Studios’ Instagram post about whether or not he was actually singing.
Instagram user @imstillhungrythough marveled: ‘The way he sounds on Born to Run!’
‘@vanessavelas it’s Jeremy singing,’ Instagram user @ragamuffin_gunner replied to another. ‘The fact you think it’s Bruce means he’s nailing it.’
Instagram user @xxxanishaxxx chimed in: ‘@todd.burge it’s Jeremy! I am an extra in the movie.’
‘It’s like Jeremy Allen White inhabited Bruce Springsteen in this performance,’ Instagram user @nickjmalf commented. ‘I can’t wait to see the film.’

‘Trailer gave me goosebumps!’ Instagram user @idgee_t commented. ‘Jeremy is the embodiment of Bruce in this!’
And Instagram user @r251700 declared: ‘Oscar for Jeremy!’
In fact, Jeremy did sing all of the songs in the film himself, telling theΒ Associated PressΒ last month: ‘I sang everything β everything’s in the movie. It’s done. No more prep, no more vocal lessons, I did it.’
‘We finished it in January and Bruce was there a lot of time. Jon Landau, his manager was there a lot of time. They seemed happy and that makes me happy,’ White noted.
In the big-screen adaptation of Warren Zanes’ 2023 biography, Springsteen creates one of the first truly DIY albums – Nebraska – at his home in Colts Neck, NJ with recording engineer Mike Batlan (Paul Walter Hauser) circa 1981-1982.
‘Don’t need to be perfect,’ the 20-time Grammy winner explained. ‘I want it to feel like I’m in the room by myself.’
Bruce is seen attempting to re-record the same minimalist folk tracks about everyday blue-collar workers with the E Street Band, but he ultimately decided to release the original recordings instead.

The Boss’ biopic musical drama arrives at the heels of A Complete Unknown, Elvis, and Bohemian Rhapsody – which brought awards season attention to TimothΓ©e Chalamet, Austin Butler, and Rami Malek.
Bruce has released 21 studio albums spanning six decades and he’s sold over 140M records worldwide.
Springsteen was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999, received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2009, the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016, and the National Medal of Arts in 2023.
But first, audiences can next catch the two-time Emmy winner reprising his breakout role as chef Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto in the 10-episode fourth season of Christopher Storer’s critically-acclaimed drama The Bear, which premieres June 25 on Hulu.
