During a media appearance in London to promote his upcoming undisputed heavyweight clash with Tyson Fury, Usyk pulled a surprise from his jacket: a stack of glossy, laminated photos showing the exact moment Daniel Dubois landed the controversial body shot in their 2023 title fight — the one Dubois insisted was a legal blow to the body, but Usyk and the referee deemed a clear low blow.

The Shot Heard Around the Ring

The original incident happened in Round 5 of their August 2023 bout. Dubois landed a heavy shot that sent Usyk crumbling to the canvas, grimacing in pain. While Dubois and his team screamed “body shot!”, the referee ruled it an illegal low blow, giving Usyk time to recover.

The moment divided boxing fans and analysts worldwide. Some believed Dubois was robbed of a KO win. Others praised the ref’s decision, claiming the punch clearly landed below the belt.

Usyk, now clearly owning the moment, is using humor to put the debate to rest — on his terms.

Moving On — But Not Forgetting

While Usyk gears up for the biggest fight of his career against Tyson Fury, his ability to mix serious training with moments of light-hearted mischief is part of what makes him a fan favorite. The Dubois photos might be a joke — but the message is clear: he doesn’t forget, and he doesn’t let things slide quietly.

Whether it’s psychological warfare or just classic Usyk humor, one thing’s for sure: when this Ukrainian steps into the spotlight, you never know what you’re going to get — except maybe a laminated low blow.
