Alex Pereira shares his perspective on Jiri Prochazka being labeled a ‘fraud’ by the new UFC light heavyweight champion

Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka

Alex Pereira is siding with Jiri Prochazka! As a matter of fact, Prochazka and Pereira have a rich history of feud. It was the Czech Samurai whom ‘Poatan’ beat to clinch the light heavyweight title initially. Unfortunately, while the duo met again at UFC 303, things didn’t go well for Prochazka. Pereira caught him off guard with a head kick that made him collapse to the ground. And while the duo are planning to get in a trilogy fight, Pereira seems to be giving Proxchazka his due respect.

In a recent back-and-forth, Jiri Prochazka and Magomed Ankalaev got involved in a verbal battle. While the former termed the new UFC light heavyweight champion as someone nobody liked. Anakalaev, too, hit back, referring to Prochazka as a ‘fake ninja.’

And this is something that Alex Pereira does not seem to support. Speaking with Ariel Helwani recently, Pereira shed light on the matter.

“The only thing that I can say is this is them deviating to not fight me again. Because honestly, Jiří is a respectful guy that doesn’t talk bad about anybody. I don’t know – maybe because [Prochazka] is the closest one to fight for the belt – he’s digging something to not fight me again,” Pereira said via his coach and translator, Plinio Cruz.

Well, not only Pereira but Jiri Prochazka also hit back at Magomed Anakalaev for his loose talk.

Soon after Ankalaev called Prochazka a ‘fraud,’ the latter did not seem to like the statement. Immediately churning out a response, Prochazka stated that if anybody was a fraud, it was the Russian fighter himself. Prochazka further sent a warning to Magomed Ankalaev.

He said, “Don’t speak about me anymore… you don’t know which kind of life I’m living. Face me in the cage then you will understand.”

Thus, it is evident that the mutual respect is quite high between Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka. Now, it remains to be seen whether the duo will engage in any further matchups in the future or not.
