UFC icon Francis Ngannou breaks silence on motorcycle accident which left 17-year-old girl dead

Francis Ngannou has said his ‘heart is shattered’ after he was involved in a fatal motorcycle crash last month.

According to reports out of Cameroon, the former UFC champion struck and killed a 17-year-old girl while driving a motorcycle in his home country.

Ngannou reportedly rushed her to the hospital himself before she ultimately died at Yaounde General Hospital.

Now, the fighter has opened up to TMZ about the tragic ordeal as he discussed the ‘devastating loss of life.’

‘From the very beginning, I have been by the family’s side, offering support, comfort, and deepest condolences during this time,’ he said in a statement obtained by the outlet.

‘I’ve met with them privately to share in their grief, and I will continue to stand with them every step of the way.

The crash occurred over Easter weekend, with the victim identified as Ntsama Brigitte Manuella according to local reports.

Ngannou reportedly paid for the teen’s medical expenses himself.

In March, he posted several photos of himself on a motorbike, though it’s not clear if the bike was the same one he was driving during the accident.

Mail Sport have previously contacted Ngannou’s representatives for comment.

The tragic update comes roughly a year after it was announced that his 15-month-son, Kobe, had died.

He later said on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast that Kobe had a ‘malformation’ on his brain which the family was previously unaware of.

Ngannou last fought in October last year, as he knocked out Renan Ferreira to win the PFL heavyweight title.
