Paddy Pimblett’s dramatic weight cuts have left many stunned, but it’s not just his pre-fight weight loss that grabs attention—his post-fight weight gain is equally astonishing. ‘The Baddy’ has admitted to gaining 40 pounds after his fights. Worried about these extreme weight fluctuations, MMA veteran Matt Brown has criticized Pimblett’s rapid weight gain.

Brown often reminds his fighters that MMA careers are short, so it’s important to make the most of the time they have. He believes Paddy Pimblett’s current approach could eventually work against him. While Brown supports celebrating wins, he stresses the importance of discipline. Pimblett’s sudden post-fight weight gain raised red flags for Brown. In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, the veteran said,

“If I were his coach, I would have some concern. What I tell all of my fighters is we have a short window here. You might be doing this for 15 to 20 years at most. There’s a lot that you can get out of it. Why not squeeze all the f*cking juice out that you can?”

Brown is saying that avoiding a 40-pound weight gain after a fight isn’t that difficult. He believes fighters can still enjoy themselves, but they should do so in moderation. On the other hand, Pimblett has mentioned that the food in the United States is contributing to his weight gain.

Pimblett’s visibly fuller look and questioned how he makes the 155-lb lightweight limit. Pimblett revealed he typically walks around at over 190 lbs outside of camp and undergoes a massive weight cut before fights. After his TKO win over Michael Chandler, he shared on a show with Bruce Buffer and TJ De Santis that he had five milkshakes post-fight and woke up weighing 198 lbs, calling it “fat.” He added,

“That’s about the heaviest I get, I never really touch 200. Only if I’m in the States, the food just makes me into a machine.”

Pimblett typically peaks at around 195 lbs, with his dramatic weight fluctuations becoming iconic among fans. However, whether he will heed MMA veteran Matt Brown’s advice to keep his weight in moderation remains to be seen. Only time will tell.
