Dana White Announces UFC 316: Massive Bantamweight Title Fight Headlines, Women’s Championship Bout In Co-Main
Merab Dvalishvili, Dana White, and Sean O’Malley
The UFC is rolling out back-to-back Fight Night events leading to the next pay-per-view. Meanwhile, UFC President Dana White continues to drop major PPV headliner announcements between these events. He recently revealed the highly anticipated bantamweight title rematch between Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili. Additionally, the co-main event will feature another bantamweight title fight, with Julianna Pena taking on Kayla Harrison.
UFC 316 is set to take place in Newark, New Jersey, on June 7. In the main event, Merab Dvalishvili looks to cement his legacy with a second win over Sean O’Malley after successfully defending his title against the previously unbeaten Umar Nurmagomedov. O’Malley, who hasn’t fought since losing the belt in September, is determined to reclaim his spot at the top.
In the co-main event, Julianna Peña makes her first title defense since reclaiming the women’s bantamweight belt in October. Known for her shocking submission win over Amanda Nunes at UFC 269, she now faces rising star Kayla Harrison in a highly anticipated showdown.
The card also features exciting matchups, including a bantamweight clash between former title challenger Marlon Vera and Mario Bautista, a flyweight bout between Bruno Gustavo da Silva and Joshua Van, and a light heavyweight showdown between Johnny Walker and Azamat Murzakanov.
Dana White Teams Up With Mark Zuckerberg For Groundbreaking Partnership
Dana White
Dana White has taken his partnership with Mark Zuckerberg to a new level, announcing a major long-term deal between UFC and Meta. This makes Meta the UFC’s first-ever official fan-technology partner, integrating platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Threads, WhatsApp, and Meta AI to enhance fan experiences. In a video, the UFC president revealed the news and said,
“This is great news for UFC fans. Why? Because this means Meta will use all of its bada– apps and technology like Instagram, Facebook, Threads, WhatsApp, and Meta AI to create amazing content and experiences for UFC fans.”
As part of the deal, Meta will help develop a new fighter rankings system set to debut later this year. White has been pushing for this after repeatedly criticizing the current rankings. He has long advocated for AI-powered rankings, believing they will bring more accuracy and fairness to the system.
