Top Hollywood director teams up with Dana White and Turki Alalshikh for UFC movie, as details of ‘incredibly ambitious’ project are revealed
Dana White is to be heavily involved in process of creating new UFC movie
Turki Alalshikh will be a co-producer of the film and it will be called ‘Brawler’
The blood, sweat and tears of the UFC has always seemed like a match made in heaven with Hollywood.
And a new project has been announced in which Dana White will join forces with Turki Alalshikh and director Zack Snyder to create film, titled ‘Brawler’.
Among Snyder’s other work is 300, Man of Steel, Dawn of the Dead and Justice League.
He’s now been tasked with bringing a UFC blockbuster to the silver screen and it will chart the rise of a young fighter, from growing up on the mean streets of Los Angeles to earning a title shot in the UFC.
White and Alalshikh, who recently joined forces in a multi-year agreement to launch a professional boxing league, are taking their partnership to another realm.
The UFC president said: ‘They [Snyder and Alalshikh] are both very passionate about this project to show fans what it takes to become a UFC champion.

‘Brawler’ is the title of the film and it is not yet known who will play the lead role
‘It’s an incredibly ambitious project and I look forward to seeing it come to life.’
Snyder added: ‘Behind every great fighter is the story of how they got there.
‘UFC is the world leader in combat sports and I’m honoured to be partnering with them to tell this incredible story.’
Snyder will also serve as a writer for the film and his wife Deborah, who co-founded their production company Stone Quarry with him, is also working on it.
It seems likely the filmmakers will piggyback a real UFC event in a similar manner to Conor McGregor and Jake Gyllenhaal’s ‘Roadhouse’.
Scenes were shot in the octagon with a live audience at pay-per-view cards and other fight week events such as press conferences also made the cut.
The remake of the Patrick Swayze cult classic was put straight on Amazon Prime and proved to be a significant hit.
Originally it was intended to be released in cinemas before a change of strategy and the film had 50million streams in the first two weekends after release.
Last year, Roadhouse with Conor McGregor and Jake Gyllenhaal (right) was a hit
While the film wasn’t MMA based, McGregor’s appeal as the UFC’s biggest name was a major factor.
With the marketing machines of the UFC and Alalshikh behind the new project, there is likely to be plenty of promotion during major pay-per-view shows, as there was with ‘Roadhouse’.
No casting has currently taken place but no doubt White and Co will want to land a major name for the leading role in the months ahead.
