Elon Musk – tech visionary, eccentric billionaire, and a man who has reshaped everything from cars and rockets to cryptocurrencies and social media. He’s helped thousands become millionaires, if not billionaires – from early Tesla believers to crypto gamblers riding the waves of his late-night tweets.
But one group of people who didn’t quite get to ride the financial rocket ship?
His ex-wives.
Love, Divorce, and No Stock Options
Musk has been married three times – twice to actress Talulah Riley, and once to author Justine Musk, the mother of five of his children. Despite sharing homes, lives, and (presumably) dreams, none of them walked away from those marriages with a stake in Tesla or SpaceX.
Justine, in a candid blog post, mentioned that during their divorce, she didn’t ask for half his fortune. She kept her independence and custody rights – but no equity, no board seat, no private island. Talulah Riley, the British actress Musk wooed via email and married (twice), also exited the marriage without a major financial windfall, despite the high-profile nature of their relationship.
It’s ironic, isn’t it? Elon Musk has created immense wealth for strangers who bought a few shares or believed in his moonshot visions – but seemingly not for the women who stood by him during his early grind.
The World’s Richest Man Doesn’t Part Easily With Shares
As of now, Musk’s net worth is over $200 billion, most of it tied up in Tesla, SpaceX, and other ventures he controls with an iron grip. And when it came to divorce settlements, he managed to hold onto his empires tightly.
Compare that to Jeff Bezos, whose ex-wife MacKenzie Scott became one of the richest women in the world after their split, and went on to give away billions in charitable donations. Musk, on the other hand, appears far less generous – at least when it comes to exes.
He may believe in open-sourcing Tesla patents – but not in open-sourcing his wealth in a divorce.
The Lucky Ones Didn’t Marry Him – They Just Invested
Here’s the kicker: if you’d bought $10,000 worth of Tesla stock a decade ago, you might be shopping for a yacht today. But if you were once married to Musk? You might just have a house, a story or two, and maybe a book deal.
So, what’s the takeaway?
If you want to get rich off Elon Musk, don’t marry him. Invest in him.
His love life may be volatile, but his stocks? They tend to go parabolic.
In Musk’s universe, fortunes soar to Mars – but relationships often crash back down to Earth.
