UFC Hall Of Famer Reflects On Sean Strickland Working On His Personality To Become A Crazy Version Of Himself
Sean Strickland
Sean Strickland has one of the most unique and weirdest personalities in the UFC. His way of talking and controversial statements have often left the UFC realm fuming. But what if we say that Strickland has actually worked hard to change his entire personality? As bizarre as that might sound, all of it stands true. In a recent appearance on the ‘JAXXON Podcast,’ Forest Griffin revealed that ‘Tarzan’ had an entirely different personality in his earlier days.
However, in order to make himself popular with the fans, Strickland decided to bring a major change to his personality. Surely, it did work its magic. Once he started getting unfiltered, ‘Tarzan’ had been facing immense backlash for the same.
Speaking on the same, Forest Griffin stated, “I think what happened is he’s always been a little nuts and then he started letting it slip out. And then what happened? People liked it. He got a positive reaction and he said, ‘Oh, sh*t, people like it when I’m really me’…He quit trying to be whatever and he started being himself. And then he was like, ‘You know what?…Now I gotta be the nth version of myself…”
Griffin further stated that once Strickland got attention owing to his trash talks, he immediately wanted to bank on the same. Now, while that did work, his performance inside the octagon seemed to have taken a morose turn.
Sean Strickland Called Out By His Coach
Sean Strickland was criticized for his timid approach during his latest fight against Dricus Du Plessis. Frustrated by this approach, his coach, Eric Nicksick, vented his anger in an interaction with Ariel Helwani.
“It was just uninspired fighting… it seemed like he was sleepwalking… I want to coach world champions,” said Nicksick. He further added, “It was tough, man. I was just trying to trying to dig him out of it, um, you know, through the rounds. I didn’t know if he was trying to collect data in the beginning or if it was just uh, a slow start,” said Nicksick.
Thus, the situation with Sean Strickland seems quite interesting at the moment. It remains to be seen how things will pan out in the future.
