Trump makes major move after Russian ex-president’s ‘foolish’ threats
President Donald Trump has changed tactics after threats from Russia, making a major move that could further widen the hostilities between the two nations.
The POTUS is issuing his own threats against Russia amid its ongoing conflict with Ukraine and alleged nuclear threat it poses.
Despite repeated attempts by the US Pres, Moscow appears to be in no sort of rush to come to a ceasefire agreement, and has instead taken a different approach – making fun of the US president for his involvement in the war.
Now, Trump has revealed what retaliatory measure’s he took in response to a heated exchange of words where former Russian president, Dmitry Medvedev, threatened the US with a nuclear strike.
Medvedev, who is now the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, told Trump to remember Moscow had Soviet-era nuclear strike capabilities, after Trump threatened the nation with additional sanctions over its Ukraine conflict.
Donald Trump made a major move after Russia’s threats
To this, Trump called it ‘foolish’ to threaten them with the big guns, making his own move which may have been to show that the US have their own weapons close by.
Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: “Based on the highly provocative statements of the Former President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, who is now the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that.
“Words are very important, and can often lead to unintended consequences, I hope this will not be one of those instances. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
The disagreement ramped up when the POTUS said Russia had just ’10 days’ to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine or enjoy the financial sanctions in the form of tariffs he’d planned to level at them.
In response, Russia’s former leader from 2008 to 2012 and the prime minister from 2012 to 2020, accused Trump of engaging in a ‘game of ultimatums’ and posted a chilling threat on Twitter.
He wrote: “Trump’s playing the ultimatum game with Russia: 50 days or 10.”

He then asked Trump to ‘remember two things’, adding: “1. Russia isn’t Israel or even Iran.
“2. Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war.
“Not between Russia and Ukraine, but with his own country. Don’t go down the Sleepy Joe road!”
In true Trump form, he hit back with an insult, calling him a ‘failed former president,’ who should also ‘watch his words’ as he is ‘entering very dangerous territory’.
Trump wrote: “Russia and the USA do almost no business together. Let’s keep it that way, and tell Medvedev, the failed former President of Russia, who thinks he’s still President, to watch his words.
“He’s entering very dangerous territory!”
Medvedev posted: “Trump issued a theatrical ultimatum to the Kremlin. The world shuddered, expecting the consequences. Belligerent Europe was disappointed. Russia didn’t care.”
While it’s not clear if Trump was referring to Washington’s Ohio-class nuclear ballistic missile submarines or the nuclear-powered Los Angeles and Virginia-class fast-attack boats being moved closer to the region, two of the above weapons are nuclear powered.
The ballistic missile and fast-attack boats.
However, the Ohio-class missile submarines have been known to carry nuclear weapons.
