Trump issues chilling threat to Putin amid ongoing war in Ukraine

Donald Trump has already backtracked on his 50-day deadline for Vladimir Putin.
Since returning to office for his second term, the POTUS has been involved in umpteen negotiations with Russia and Ukraine in the hopes of ending the ongoing war that’s claimed the lives of thousands.
So far, Trump’s efforts have been in vain as the conflict between the two neighboring countries wages on.
There have been temporary ceasefires between Russia and Ukraine, but it didn’t take long for the attacks to resume.
In one of Russia’s latest attacks on Ukraine over the weekend five people died in a drone strike, BBC News reports.
It’s said that more than 200 drones and almost 30 missiles were fired by Russia on Saturday (July 26), claimed Ukrainian officials.

In another move to try and end the war, Trump recently threatened Russia with ‘very severe tariffs’ if it doesn’t stop its attacks on Ukraine by early September (50 days from the day Trump made the threats on July 14). But such a deadline is now expected to be drastically brought forward.
The suggestion has been made today (July 28) during the president’s meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, where the US president said he was ‘very disappointed’ with Vladimir Putin and criticized the Russian leader’s decision to continue air strikes against civilian targets in Ukraine.
Speaking alongside the Prime Minister outside his hotel in Turnberry, South Ayrshire in Scotland, Trump said: “We thought we had it settled numerous times, and then President Putin goes out and starts launching rockets into some city like Kyiv and kills a lot of people in a nursing home or whatever.
“You have bodies lying all over the street, and I say that’s not the way to do it. So we’ll see what happens with that.”

Discussing the deadline he’d set, Trump said he’s considering reducing the 50-day deadline to ‘a lesser number’.
“I think I already know the answer, what’s going to happen,” he added.
Trump later suggested he would cut the time frame to ‘about 10 or 12 days’ from Monday, which would see the deadline expire by August 9 instead of September 2.
Ahead of Trump’s meeting with Starmer, it was shared that the pair would discuss the Ukraine-Russia war.
Last week, Downing Street said both men were ‘set to talk about their shared desire to bring an end to the barbaric war’ and ‘reflect on progress in their 50-day drive to arm Ukraine and force Putin to the negotiating table’.
