Three stabbed at California private school and bomb squad dispatched to scene, cops say

Bomb squads have been sent to a private school after a former student stabbed three teachers and claimed to have left two explosive devices, cops say.

Panic swept the Switzer Learning Center, a special needs school in Torrance, California, at approximately 8.15am on Monday, according to a press release from the police department.

The suspect, who is also accused of attempting to stab a fourth person, fled the scene but was later apprehended by authorities. The former student then told cops he had placed two pipe bombs in the area.

The claims prompted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad to launch an investigation and advised the public to avoid the the vicinity of 208 Street and Amapola Avenue.

Investigators located the purported incendiary devices, which were later rendered safe.

Two of the victims were taken to Harbor General Hospital and all are in stable condition. No students were injured.

The investigation is ongoing and police have not released the stabber’s identity or motive.
