Team Islam Makhachev Hits Back At MMA Personality For ‘Ducking’ Claims

Team Islam Makhachev responds to criticism, firmly denying ‘ducking’ claims made by MMA personality and defending his fighting record

With Jack Della Maddalena defeating Belal Muhammad, Islam Makhachev got the green light to move up to the next level. Vacating his title at lightweight, Makhachev will now be pursuing a dream that his mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov, could not achieve. Becoming a two-division champion is what Makhachev has hinted at for a long time. And now, when his time is here, people are mocking him significantly. With the ducking claims going around, Makhachev’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, lashed out at an MMA personality.

@DoubleVodkaDon from Barstool Sports recently opined that Makhachev has run away from the Ilia Topuria fight. He also opined that the Dagestani will now have to wait longer to fight Della Maddalena. Thus, he could have easily fought Topuria and then moved on to his next mission.

This is exactly what Abdelaziz did not like. Slamming him for his comments, he asked him to visit the gym often. Makhachev’s manager also addressed the MMA personality as ‘underqualified’ to speak on such issues.

“This fat motherf**ker need to stop eating and go to the gym, he should not be watching any sport or talking about any sport he’s not qualified,” said Abdelaziz.

Surely, this is a strong statement from Ali Abdelaziz. With the all-important bout approaching, Team Makhachev laid down the blueprint for success.

Jack Della Maddalena boldly states he's ready to welcome Islam Makhachev to lightweight, setting up a thrilling potential clash

Islam Makhachev and Jack Della Maddalena

After his excellent performance against Belal Muhammad, Jack Della Maddalena is being held in high regard. His incredible striking ability makes critics doubt whether Islam Makhachev will be able to run riot like he usually does. But as for Makhachev’s coach, Javier Mendez is fully confident. In a recent interaction, Mendez stated that the Dagestani will surely come out on the bright side.

“Can he take Jack down? Absolutely, he can take Jack down. Can he outstrike Jack? Absolutely, he can outstrike Jack. But is it wise to outstrike him? I feel we can, but it may not be. It may be a better deal to do what Belal should have done — and that’s something I know Islam will do,” Mendez stated.

Thus, with Islam Makhachev on the verge of fulfilling his dream, it remains to be seen how it all pans out.
