One of the most exciting welterweight clashes is set for this weekend in Kansas City as Ian Garry takes on Carlos Prates. However, Garry expressed frustration over not getting a title shot after Shavkat Rakhmanov pulled out. Seizing the moment, Sean Brady didn’t hold back and used the situation to mock the Irish fighter.

Rakhmonov was originally scheduled to fight Belal Muhammad at UFC 315, but had to pull out due to injury. Ian Garry, who took a short-notice loss to Shavkat, felt that performance should’ve still put him in title contention. However, it was Jack Della Maddalena who ended up getting the shot instead. Sean Brady, now a top contender himself, took the opportunity to mock Garry on Instagram, writing:

“Biggest claim to fame is losing a decision to Shavkat crying like a baby he didn’t get a title shot off of a loss and now is claiming he will get the title ‘if’ he beat #13 make it make sense. 0 top 5 wins calls himself an elite striker but held on for dear life against MVP.”

Meanwhile, Garry, who suffered his first UFC loss and saw his undefeated streak snapped, will be looking to bounce back strong. However, Prates poses a tough challenge for “The Future” in what promises to be a competitive showdown.

Sean Brady has quickly risen to the top of the welterweight division with a dominant win over former champ Leon Edwards, earning the No. 1 spot and solidifying himself as a top title contender. With Rakhmonov sidelined by a knee injury, Brady may step in as the next challenger. In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Brady said,

“I’m the best fighter in the world. So if I have to go beat Shavkat and then fight for the belt, I’m cool with that.”

The American fighter is coming off one of his biggest wins against Leon Edwards. While his next bout is still uncertain, it could potentially be a No. 1 contender fight in the welterweight division.
