RHOSLC Pauses Production After Death of Mary Cosby’s Son Robert Cosby Jr.
Real Housewives of Salt Lake City has been put on a temporary pause for the seventh season following the death of Mary Cosby’s son Robert Cosby Jr. on Feb. 23.

Production for the show’s upcoming seventh season has been temporarily halted following the death of Mary Cosby’s son Robert Cosby Jr., E! News can confirm.
Mary and her fellow castmates Lisa Barlow, Heather Gay, Meredith Marks, Whitney Rose, Angie Katsanevas and Bronwyn Newport were set to begin filming again this week.
The series development comes shortly after Mary and husband Robert Cosby Sr. confirmed the news of Robert Jr’s death at the age of 23, noting their son was “finally at peace.”
“Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord,” the couple said in a statement shared to Instagram Feb. 25. “Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”
The Salt Lake City Police Department confirmed to E! News that Robert Jr. was found dead when officers responded to a possible overdose. The medical examiner is still investigating the cause of death.
Bravo offered condolences to Mary and Robert Sr., following the news of Robert Jr.’s death
“We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Mary’s beloved son, Robert Jr.,” the statement to E! News said. “Mary is a cherished member of our family, and our thoughts, love, and deepest condolences are with her and her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Andy Cohen also expressed his sympathy to Mary and Robert. Sr.
“I love you Mary,” the executive producer commented on social media. “You did your very best. We are all praying for your family.”
Fellow Real Housewives also offered support, with Kyle Richards, writing, “Mary, I am so sorry for your unimaginable loss. I’m holding you in my thoughts and prayers. We are here for you and sending so much love.”
Mary’s castmate Bronwyn added, “I love you and your family and I am here for you,” while Meredith’s son Brooks Marks wrote, “Sending you so much love. Your strength is beyond admirable.”

Robert Jr.’s struggle with substance use was documented on the series, including during season five when he emotionally shared the extent of his battle with his mom. While speaking with her son, Mary vowed to assist him in seeking help.
After their touching moment aired, Mary explained why it was important for her to share such a personal moment with the world.
“It wasn’t planned, we just came together Robert and I and I said, ‘We’re going to do this, because we’re going to help somebody,’” she explained to Andy through tears during a December 2024 appearance on Watch What Happens Live. “He didn’t plan what he was going to say, and I didn’t plan what I was going to say.”
As for her son’s progress following the conversation, the Bravo star offered an optimistic outlook.
“I am so proud of him. So proud of him. He did go to rehab, he stayed for a month, he completed it,” she added. “He did an excellent job. He came out a new person.”
