Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “George Foreman is dead. What a GREAT FIGHTER!!! He had, without question, the heaviest and biggest punch in the history of boxing. With the exception of Ali, when you got hit, you went down. He was something really Special, but above all, he was a Great Person, with a personality that was bigger than life. I knew him well, and he will be missed. Warmest condolences to his wonderful family!!!”
Donald Trump’s message praised Foreman’s talent in the ring and his character outside of it. As a former businessman, Trump spent decades in sports and entertainment. He frequently interacted with athletes and admired boxing legends.
George Foreman, best known for his legendary bout against Muhammad Ali in the 1974 Rumble in the Jungle, built a remarkable career. He captured Olympic gold in 1968 before dominating the heavyweight division in the early 1970s. After a decade-long retirement, he made a stunning comeback, regaining the heavyweight title at age 45, becoming the oldest champion in the sport’s history.
The boxing icon’s family released a heartfelt statement describing him as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who lived with “unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.” His legacy extends beyond his time in the ring, inspiring countless athletes and fans worldwide.
