Just minutes after a career-defining win, Paddy Pimblett found himself in the middle of another fight- this time, without gloves. UFC 314 had barely cooled off when tempers flared behind the scenes at the Kaseya Center in Miami. Pimblett, still riding the high of his brutal third-round TKO over Michael Chandler, locked eyes and words with Colby Covington backstage in a tense and very public showdown.

The incident unfolded during Pimblett’s post-fight broadcast interviews. Cameras from ESPN caught the moment Covington stormed in, exchanging loud threats with the Liverpool native. Security jumped in before the confrontation turned physical, while Pimblett and Covington hurled insults until officials escorted Covington out.

Trash Talk Turns Heated

Covington didn’t hold back, calling Pimblett a “bum” and accusing him of padding his record with easy fights. Pimblett, never one to stay quiet, fired back immediately. “He only does something when a camera is about,” he said on the post-fight show. “I seen him at Power Slap the other week and walked past him. I was staring at him and he looked at the floor.” Pimblett went on to call Covington a “maggot” and mocked his losing streak.

The tension didn’t come out of nowhere. Covington has been frustrated at Pimblett in interviews over the past year. Pimblett previously responded in a YouTube video, saying Covington “talks a big game online” but “s**s his undies in person.” Saturday night seemed to confirm that animosity runs deep. “I’ll beat Colby Covington for the laugh,” Pimblett said. “But I’ve got bigger fish to fry than that little mushroom.”

Covington has not addressed the altercation publicly, but the footage and eyewitness accounts speak for themselves. According to ESPN, the argument escalated quickly before multiple security staff members stepped in to prevent a physical fight.

With Paddy Pimblett gunning for a fight against former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and Covington still looking to claw his way back after three straight losses, a matchup between the two seems unlikely in the immediate future. Still, after this weekend, the rivalry is very real — and UFC fans will be watching closely to see if it explodes again.
