Melania Trump laughs off Vanity Fair cover offer as magazine employees epically melt down in protest

First Lady Melania Trump laughed at Vanity Fair’s offer to feature her on the magazine’s cover.

According to Page Six, a fashion source close to the first lady says she ‘laughed’ at the request from the magazine back in July and immediately rejected them.

‘She doesn’t have time,’ the source claimed about the length it takes to sit for a solo photo shoot.

‘Her priorities as First Lady are far more important,’ the source went on. ‘These people don’t deserve her anyway.’

Vanity Fair’s new global editorial director Mark Guiducci tried to convince Trump over the summer but his employees nearly mutinied when they found out about the offer.

The Daily Mail on Monday spoke with one magazine editor who said there would be mass walkouts from Vanity Fair if the first lady received her own cover.

‘If [Guiducci] puts Melania on the cover, half of the editorial staff will walk out, I guarantee it,’ a mid–level editor told the Daily Mail.

‘I will walk out the motherf***ing door, and half my staff will follow me.’

‘We are not going to normalize this despot and his wife; we’re just not going to do it. We’re going to stand for what’s right,’ the editor added.

The employee told the Daily Mail they were willing to work ‘bagging groceries at Trader Joe’s’ rather than support a Trump magazine cover before adding ‘it sickens me.’

However, the Vanity Fair employee will not have quit his job because the first lady never even entertained the idea of working with them.

‘She’s way above doing Vanity Fair,’ the Page Six source claimed.

‘She’s been nothing but kind and works hard… She has her priorities straight.’

Meanwhile, another Vogue employee said rumors about a staff walkout are complete nonsense.

‘It’s all talk,’ one employee told the Daily Mail.

‘If they put her on the cover, people will protest and gripe about it, but I don’t see anyone quitting such a prestigious job over that.’

Guiducci’s offer to Melania breaks away from how Condé Nast typically deals with the Trump family.

Throughout Donald Trump’s first-term in office, Melania was not featured on any American Vogue cover. The last time the company worked with her was in 2005.

Meanwhile, nearly every Democratic first lady has graced the Vogue cover while their husbands were in office, including Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, and Jill Biden.

From 2009 until 2016, Obama appeared three times on Vogue, while Mrs. Biden appeared twice in only four years.

Back in December, Melania joined Fox & Friends for an interview shortly before her husband took the oath of office for a second time.

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade asked the first lady if a fashion magazine would feature her during Trump’s second-term in the White House.

‘I’ve been there,’ Trump responded. ‘For me, we have so many other important things to do than to be on the cover of any magazine.’

‘I think that life would not change for anybody if I’m on the cover.’
