Jon Jones’ Arch-Rival Almost Kills Himself With Knife While Assembling Kid’s Bed

Jon Jones
It started like any ordinary day at home, just a former UFC champion doing some dad duties, assembling furniture and getting things in order. But what was supposed to be a simple task quickly turned into a moment of real danger. No octagon, no opponent, just one misstep away from tragedy. In a surprising and candid moment during the UFC 315 weigh-ins show, Jon Jones’ arch-rival, Daniel Cormier shared how he almost killed himself with a knife.
Speaking during the UFC 315 weigh-ins show, Daniel Cormier shared a terrifying moment from home. While setting up a queen-size bed for his kid, he tried to cut open a sealed mattress. He sliced too deep, and as the mattress suddenly popped open, it sent the knife flying back into his chest. Luckily, the blunt side hit him—not the sharp edge. Cormier admitted the close call really shook him.
“I’m in my house, and I’m putting together my kid’s queen-size bed. So I get one of those sealed mattresses, and I start to cut it open. I cut the mattress too deep, to the bottom—it explodes up, the knife hits me in the chest. It would have killed me if the knife’s edge had hit me. I was shaking,” he said.

The story left fans stunned, not just because of how close it came to disaster, but because it served as a reminder that even champions face unexpected dangers outside the spotlight. Cormier’s near-miss wasn’t in the cage it was in the quiet of his own home, during a moment most people wouldn’t think twice about. And yet, it nearly cost him everything.
Daniel Cormier Goes Off On Jon Jones Beating Gorilla Claim

Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones
Cormier couldn’t hold back when Chael Sonnen claimed that ten Jon Jones could take down a gorilla. The wild theory came up during a discussion about Jon Jones’ absence from the heavyweight division. Sonnen broke down a scenario involving distraction and teamwork, but Cormier wasn’t having it. He called the idea ridiculous and shut it down immediately, saying no version or number of Jon Jones could ever beat a gorilla. His reaction was pure disbelief.
Indeed, it’s nearly impossible to imagine any number of Jon Jones taking down a gorilla but the idea is so outrageous, straight out of a MrBeast video. If Jon Jones ever featured in one of those wild, over-the-top challenges, fans would be all in. A fantasy face-off like that, even just for laughs, would break the internet and blur the lines between fight hype and viral entertainment.
