Joe Rogan and Tom Aspinall

Joe Rogan is widely regarded as one of the experts in the MMA realm. Being associated with the UFC as a color commentator for decades now, Rogan’s MMA expertise is seldom doubted. Surprisingly, even the most experienced of the lot can make a slip too. And that is exactly what happened with Rogan recently. In an episode of ‘JRE Fight Companion,’ Rogan was shocked to find out that Tom Aspinall has lost a bout in his MMA career.

Together with Brendan Schaub, Gordon Ryan, and Eddie Bravo, Rogan discussed a host of topics. However, at one point in the podcast, Ryan pointed out the incident where Tom Aspinall was defeated. And Rogan could not believe his ears!

“Aspinall? When was that? I thought he was undefeated. No kidding. Was it an amateur fight or was it a pro fight?” Joe Rogan explained.

Well, for the uninitiated, Tom Aspinall was defeated by Stuart Austin at BAMMA 21. This was during the early days of his career and was only Aspinall’s fourth career bout. Meanwhile, emerging as a top contender for the UFC heavyweight belt, Aspinall had some ‘big news’ to share.

Despite racking up the wins, Aspinall could not land a fight with Jon Jones for a heavyweight title unification bout. However, all that seems to have changed recently.

“Everything went amazing. I understand my position now. I understand what the company’s doing now… You gotta stay tuned my friend. There’s some big news coming,” Aspinall stated in an interaction with Ariel Helwani.

Thus, with things looking quite rosy for Aspinall, it remains to be seen what happens next.
