“It’s Us Against The Russians”: Mauricio Ruffy Wishes To Have Former UFC Double Champ On His Corner When He Is Ready To Face Islam Makhachev
Mauricio Ruffy and Islam Makhachev
Fans are really enjoying watching Mauricio Ruffy in action. Some analysts and a lot of fans have even compared his fighting style to a young Conor McGregor — a massive compliment for the rising Brazilian star. Ruffy remains undefeated in the UFC and has his sights set on a title shot. On top of that, ‘One Shot’ has expressed his hope to have Conor McGregor in his corner for a potential future showdown with Islam Makhachev.
Caio Borralho recently praised Mauricio Ruffy, calling him one of the most talented fighters in the fight game — and Ruffy is backing that up with his performances. In his most recent bout, he made a statement by knocking out Bobby Green in the first round.
Now, Ruffy has made a bold move by extending an offer to Conor McGregor, hoping to have him in his corner as he chases the UFC lightweight title. The Brazilian fighter is determined to get revenge for McGregor by taking down Islam Makhachev in a future title clash. In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, ‘One Shot’ said:
“I’m a big Conor McGregor fan, I love McGregor’s style, and there is a little bit of McGregor there. When I’m ready to fight Islam Makhachev, when I go to fight him, I want to invite Conor McGregor to be in my corner so it’s us against the Russians.”
Ruffy also added that Khabib is going to be there, of course. So, he wants McGregor to be part of his corner. He’s aiming to defeat Islam Makhachev and put an end to his reign.
Mauricio Ruffy Targeted to Face Beneil Dariush in Next UFC Bout
Mauricio Ruffy
Ruffy will be in Miami for UFC 314, hoping to be the backup for the Paddy Pimblett vs. Michael Chandler fight, though that seems unlikely. Instead, he’s eyeing a return at UFC 317 during International Fight Week, with Beneil Dariush as a possible opponent.
Following his dominant win over Bobby Green, the 28-year-old has been gaining serious attention in the MMA world. With that buzz, expectations from fans are now higher than ever. While his next fight date isn’t confirmed yet, fans are already looking forward to seeing the Brazilian back in the Octagon soon.
