Hacks star says she’s deleting TikTok which she claims is ‘censored and monitored’ as she calls for ICE reforms
Hacks star Megan Stalter says she’s leaving TikTok over its policies linked to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The 35-year-old actress-comic joined a number of fellow celebs critical of ICE following the fatal shooting of VA nurse Alex Pretti at a Minneapolis protest on Saturday.
The violent confrontation occurred less than a month after the deadly January 7 shooting of a Minneapolis protester named Renee Nicole Good.
Stalter announced the news on her Instagram page, saying she believed she was being censored on TikTok due to her anti-ICE views.
‘I’ve tried for hours to upload the same video and it wouldn’t show it to one person,’ said Stalter, who plays Kayla Schaefer on the HBO Max series Hacks. ‘ABOLISH ICE! Delete TikTok!’
The Cleveland-born comic-actress provided further context about her exodus from the platform in text she penned over another picture on Instagram.

Stalter wrote, ‘Hi so today I will be downloading my videos and deleting my tiktok page.
‘TT is under new ownership and we are being completely censored and monitored.’
Stalter said she was ‘unable to upload anything about’ ICE, even when she tried to fool the algorithm by making her video appear as if it was a comedy clip.
Stalter urged her followers, ‘Let’s delete the app love you!’
Stalter said another reason that she was departing from TikTok was because of policies that would keep statistics on users relating to their health, religious beliefs, race, gender and sexual activities.
Stalter earlier Sunday took to the site with a statement she penned about her feelings on the current state of affairs in the nation.
She prefaced her statement in saying, ‘I am a gay Christian person and I just thought it was really important to share something I wrote today with you.’

She began, ‘I have never ever been a Republican, but I have loved God and Jesus my whole entire life.
‘If you were someone who identifies as a Christian but supports ICE or the president, I want you to remember that Jesus was executed for challenging the system.
‘His life and teachings directly threatened the religious economic and political power structures of his time – and he was murdered.’

Stalter said that she was no longer going to upload to TikTok if she was being censored

Stalter added, ‘If you are a follower of Christ, I strongly urge you to follow what the Bible actually says … when a foreigner resides among you, do not mistreat them.
Stalter said that people ‘can’t argue that God wants us to love our neighbors.’
Stalter continued, ‘Our neighbors are being hunted and kidnapped and attacked daily; our government is killing people, and they are lying to us.’
Stalter said that the God who she worships ‘is extremely angry about what is going on.’
Said the entertainer, ‘I fully believe that I believe he is extremely angry at our government – they are murdering people in front of us – we cannot stop talking about this.
Stalter wrapped up her clip in saying, ‘We have to abolish ICE – I truly, truly believe that is exactly what Jesus would do.’
