“Blindsided” Jaime King Breaks Silence on Austin Sosa Breakup

Jaime King spoke out after her husband Austin Sosa filed for divorced on Jan. 22, after the pair privately got married, admitting, “I was completely blindsided” by the breakup.

After her husband Austin Sosa filed for divorce on Jan. 22, the Sin City alum spoke out about her relationship’s abrupt end.

“I was completely blindsided by the divorce filing, which came out of nowhere,” the 46-year-old told Page Six in a statement published Jan. 22. “I was with Austin the night before it became public, and while like many marriages we had normal challenges, I genuinely believed we were working on our relationship.”

Jaime also shut down any suggestion of infidelity leading to the breakup, emphasizing, “Any recent interactions being referenced publicly were strictly professional business meetings and have no connection to this private matter.”

E! News has reached out to Jaime’s reps for comment and has not heard back.

Though Jamie and Austin hadn’t publicly confirmed their nuptials, The Hart of Dixie actress had announced their engagement back in September. And flash forward just a few months later, she maintained all was well with her and Austin, with her rep telling Us Weekly on Jan. 6 that she was “very happy in her relationship.”

Jaime’s relationship news came two years after a rocky period in her custody battle with ex-husband Kyle Newman, with whom she shares sons James, 11, and Leo, 9. Last March, Kyle, with whom she split in 2020 after 13 years of marriage, was awarded sole physical custody of their sons, with Jamie being granted supervised visitation while she completed a drug and alcohol treatment program.

But amid this difficult time, she found new love with Austin. While she was excited to take the next step in her relationship with Austin, Jaime shared that she wasn’t set to rush down the aisle.

“My main focus is not necessarily planning some extravaganza,” the Black Summer star told Us Weekly in September. “My focus is chilling with them, enjoying my time with them. Enjoying their time with Austin and our other friends that love them so dearly. It would be too singular of a focus to make it just about a wedding.”
