SR News: The Witcher's Henry Cavill Reportedly Injured While Filming Season 2

Production on Netflix’s hit fantasy series The Witcher has faced another unexpected obstacle—this time involving its lead star. Henry Cavill, who plays the iconic monster hunter Geralt of Rivia, has reportedly suffered an injury while filming Season 2 of the show.

Cavill Injured on Set During High-Stakes Scene
According to reports, the British actor was injured during a high-action stunt sequence while he was about 20 feet off the ground on an assault course. While Cavill was wearing a safety harness at the time of the incident, the injury was serious enough to sideline him temporarily.

Fortunately, the injury did not require an ambulance, and sources suggest that while painful, it is not considered severe. Cavill is currently recovering and is expected to rejoin the production after a short break to allow his leg to heal properly.

A Rocky Road for Season 2
This marks yet another challenge for The Witcher Season 2, which has already faced multiple delays throughout 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production was previously shut down twice following positive coronavirus tests among cast and crew members. Despite these setbacks, the team has continued to push forward.

In Cavill’s absence, filming will reportedly continue without him for the time being. The production team plans to work around his character until he’s fit to return, in an effort to avoid further disruptions to the already tight schedule.

Holiday Break Approaching
The production was already planning a break for the holidays later in December, which may help ease the pressure of working around Cavill’s temporary absence. This timing might allow the actor additional time to rest without significantly affecting the overall timeline of filming.

Season 2 Set for 2021 Release
Despite the hurdles, Netflix is still aiming to release The Witcher Season 2 sometime in 2021. With high expectations from fans after the success of the first season, the pressure is on to deliver a strong follow-up—though safety remains a top priority for the cast and crew.

As the team works to complete filming, fans can only hope for a smooth recovery for Cavill and a return to full production soon.
