Ashanti and Nelly’s son is named Kareem Kenkaide Haynes, but coming up with the perfect name wasn’t easy. Speaking with ABC News, the singer revealed that she and Nelly went back and forth for a long time before settling on a name they both loved.

Nelly played a huge role in picking the middle name, Kenkaide, which has a deep sentimental meaning—it’s Ashanti’s father’s name. The couple affectionately calls their son “KK”.

“He [Nelly] was very adamant. He was like, ‘This is what I want, I love this.’”
