Living With Tigers: The Family That Calls Wild Beasts Their Pets π π‘
For most people, the idea of living with a tiger is the stuff of nightmares. But for one family in MaringΓ‘, Brazil, itβs just another day at home.
Meet Ary Borges, a man who shares his house with seven tigers. Yes, you read that rightβseven fully grown, powerful, and potentially deadly big cats. He, along with his three daughters, not only feeds them but also plays, swims, and even lets children ride on their backs.
While their bond with these wild animals is undeniably unique, not everyone is convinced itβs safe. Could this unusual family arrangement turn into a disaster waiting to happen? Letβs take a closer look.
π From Circus Cages to a Family Home
It all started eight years ago when Ary rescued two tigers from a circus. The animals were kept in horrible conditions, and Ary couldnβt bear to see them suffer. Without any prior experience, he decided to bring them home and built a special enclosure for them.
Before long, his daughter Uyara was feeding, petting, and even walking the tigers on a leash. The family became comfortable around the giant predators, and what started as a rescue mission soon turned into a lifestyle.
πββοΈ Swimming With Tigers: A Dangerous Bond?
Among Aryβs three daughters, Nayara has formed a particularly strong bond with a tiger named Tom. The 20-year-old regularly swims with him, unafraid of his sheer size and natural instincts.
“I trust him completely. He would never hurt me,” Nayara says.
But can trust really override nature? Tigers are apex predators, weighing up to 600 pounds with a bite force stronger than a lionβs. Experts warn that, no matter how tame a tiger seems, its instincts can kick in at any moment.
π¨ Not Everyone Feels Safe
While Ary and his daughters embrace their wild pets, not everyone in the family is thrilled.
β Uyaraβs husband, Rafael, is terrified of the tigers.
β He refuses to get close to them and strongly disagrees with his wifeβs decision to let their young daughter interact with them.
And Rafael isnβt alone. Many locals and wildlife experts believe that keeping such powerful predators in a household setting is extremely dangerous.
“One day, something bad will happen,” critics warn.
πΏ A New Future: A Tiger Sanctuary
Despite the controversy, Ary is determined to give his beloved tigers a better life. He has plans to open a 40-acre eco-park, where the animals can roam freely in a more natural habitat.
But until that dream becomes a reality, the Borges family will continue their controversial and extraordinary lifestyleβliving side by side with some of the most dangerous animals in the world.

Do you believe tigers can truly be domesticated, or is this a dangerous ticking time bomb?
