YouTube, what’s up, you guys? It’s your girl Shanelle Valentine, and I am BACK with another video! And when I say it’s been so long, I mean so long! Okay? So today, I have a couple of key points I want to hit with you guys because there has been a lot going on lately—on social media, in the industry, and especially when it comes to the inauguration, our family’s new show on Peacock, Apple Bottom, and more. So let’s just get into it!

The Inauguration – A Proud Moment

Now, first things first, let’s talk about the inauguration. I know I’m a little behind on this topic, and I’ve been very quiet about it. But y’all know me—when it comes to my family, I usually let grown people do grown things. However, there’s a time and place for everything, and THIS is my platform. So let’s address it.

First of all, my dad did an AMAZING job at the inauguration! Can we give it up for him? 👏🏽👏🏽 The entire presentation was just phenomenal. The way he incorporated our family history into the beginning of his speech—the videos of my great-grandparents, my uncles—it was such a beautiful moment. Representation of family isn’t something you always see in big moments like this, so that was huge for me.

And can we talk about the styling? Everybody looked FLY. My dad looked fly. Shoutout to the stylists on board, especially Bling (if I’m wrong, sorry y’all, but I know Bling has been my dad’s stylist for years). The fashion, the dancers, the entire production—it was NEXT LEVEL.

The Hate – It Comes with the Territory

Now, let’s get real for a second. Whenever someone reaches a level of greatness, hate always follows. And I’ve been seeing a lot of it online. Celebrities making shady posts, people throwing unnecessary shade. It’s like, okay—if you’re so unbothered, why are you bothered?

But one post in particular stood out to me. And I don’t know if it’s because it was from a woman or because she’s a woman of a certain “caliber” (and I’m putting that in quotations for a reason). Because, honestly? If she were really of that caliber, I wouldn’t even be wasting my breath on this right now.

So let’s talk about it. This particular woman made a video—yes, a whole video—dissing my dad during one of her concerts. She straight up said, “F Nelly” on stage, then proceeded to play his song and his music. Now, let’s break that down real quick:
