Woman who went on exclusive 'orgasm retreat' that costs nearly $15,000 reveals everything that happens there

A woman has broken down her experience after revealing she went to a rather fascinating retreat about orgasms.

When most think of retreats, they might think of something rather relaxing, something therapeutic, maybe some nice yoga, massages and light exercise. Well, not at this one in California…

Well, I guess they are sort of touching all of those bases, but maybe not in the way you might expect.

The Back to Body Sex Retreat in Joshua Tree National Park happens out in the wilderness and is dedicated to women honing in on their own sexual satisfaction.

One woman has spoken about the retreat after experiencing it for a few days.

Typically, guests pay around $14,700 for the experience, but Sex and Dating columnist Jana Hocking for the Mail Online went on the retreat for just over $1,300.

Speaking as a guest on the Just Between Us podcast, Jana detailed what happened.

Speaking about her experience, Jana said: “I thought it would be full of extroverts who were outlandish and wanted to perform in front of each other, but it really wasn’t.

“They were either getting divorced and realized they hadn’t had a proper orgasm and wanted to right wrongs, while other women were dealing with trauma and needed to learn how to enjoy sex again, which was quite heartbreaking.”

Jana went on to explain the ethos of the camp and said it aimed to teach women that they need to put their needs first sexually.

Describing the first exercise, she noted that each woman explained why they attended the retreat but added that this was about the only tame thing they did…

Hosted by the founder Pamela Marsden and her team of helpers the group moved on to tantric meditation.

Jana explained: “We had to hold our vulvas and rock back and forth, either naked or in our underwear, and speak to our vulva and tell it what we wanted, who we wanted to be and what our goals were.

“My goal was to take back ownership of my sexuality because I realized I was performing — I can do a Meg Ryan orgasm like the best of them — but am I having a real orgasm? Am I putting my needs first?’

Other exercises included forms of bondage, sensory deprivation and different forms of touching from the helpers.

One exercise saw Marsden brought to orgasm by a male helper after half an hour of foreplay in front of the attendees.

“It just went on so long I got bored,” Hocking says.

Another tutorial saw a urologist demonstrate the ins and outs of the female anatomy on Marsden’s naked body.

“We all stood around as the urologist kind of pointed at her private parts,” she said. “This is your labia, this is your clit.”

Jana said she was the only one at the retreat who didn’t reach orgasm, but feels now more confident and well-equipped to climax in the comfort of her own home.

Health expert reveals simple lifestyle habit that could transform your sex life

An expert has revealed that a simple but often-overlooked lifestyle habit could boost your sex life.

From health conditions and certain medications to work stress and tiredness, everyday life can take its toll on our libido.

But following one easy rule each day could boost your experience between the sheets – and you don’t need to resort to supplements or complicated routines.

It comes as new data from leading sexual wellness experts, Lovehoney, found that a quarter of people have experienced muscle cramps during sex.

And it doesn’t stop there: eight percent have even cramped up during masturbation. Millennial men are apparently most prone to this, with 35 percent reporting cramps mid-romp.

This does come with an easy fix though which has been proven to boost sexual satisfaction: 22 percent of people who followed the lifestyle habit rated their sex lives 10/10, compared to just 13 percent of those who didn’t.

They also wanted to have sex more too: 66 percent who did it reported a high libido, compared to 52 percent who didn’t.

So what do you have to do to boost your sexual satisfaction? It’s as simple as remembering to re-fill your water bottle.

Turns out, not drinking enough water can throw up some unexpected hurdles in the bedroom – remember those muscle cramps?

We should be drinking six to eight glasses of water a day to help our overall health; it helps regulate our body temperature, lubricates joints and even aids in digestion.

But shocking new survey statistics from the UK shows that adults are thirsty – and their sex lives are taking the hit.

How does hydration impact our sex lives?

Lovehoney’s new survey data, in partnership with new electrolyte hydration brand SULT, found that 67 percent of Brits are drinking less than the recommended water intake a day. Eight percent are consuming less than a single glass.

And it’s not just the Brits falling short. A Yahoo News/YouGov poll found that worryingly, eight percent of US adults ‘rarely or never’ drink water, while a quarter consume only one to two glasses a day.

Hydration levels are directly impacting desire and performance. Some 38 percent of Brits say being dehydrated makes them less in the mood for sex or self-pleasure.

The most common reasons? Low energy (61 percent) and dry mouth (38 percent) – not exactly turn-ons.

What the sex experts say

Lovehoney’s sexual health & wellness expert, Sarah Mulindwa breaks down the link between dehydration and sex.

“Hydration and libido are more connected than most people realize. Staying hydrated supports good blood flow along with your hormone regulations and energy levels, all of which are essential for sexual arousal and performance.

“Think of water as your body’s natural fuel – when you’re running low, so is your sex drive!

“This research shows dehydration is one of the most overlooked bedroom blockers.”

How to up your water intake

If you’ve been struggling for motivation to keep your water bottle topped up, then perhaps better sex is the incentive you’ve been missing.

According to the Mayo Clinic, one simple trick is to build water into your daily routine – like having a glass before brushing your teeth, before meals or after a bathroom break. You can even set hydration reminders on your phone to keep you on track.

Adding some healthy extras to your water – like oranges, cucumber, watermelon, strawberries and herbs – can keep things more interesting. The same can be said in the bedroom, I’m sure…

In fact, increasing your intake of water-rich fruit and veg in general – like melon, cucumbers, lettuce and celery – can also keep you better hydrated.

If you’re tech-savvy, a smart water bottle that connects to your phone can also help track your intake.

Or, if you’re feeling competitive, challenge a friend – or better yet, your partner – to see who hits their ‘guzzling goal’ most often. Yes, that’s a direct quote from Mayo Clinic… we’re just the messengers.
