INDIANAPOLIS — In her first media availability since suffering a left quad strain, Indiana Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark provided a detailed update on her recovery process. Speaking to reporters following team practice on Thursday, Clark expressed optimism about her progress but emphasized caution when it comes to returning to the court.

“I’m feeling better every day,” Clark said. “I’ve been doing individual work, getting treatment, and just staying patient. It’s hard not being out there with the team, but I know the smart thing is to give my body the time it needs.”
Injury Timeline and Possible Return
Clark sustained the injury on May 24 during a matchup against the New York Liberty. Since then, she has missed three consecutive games. While speculation has circulated about a possible return during the upcoming game against the Atlanta Dream on June 10, Clark made it clear that nothing has been finalized.

“We’ll see how things feel after the weekend,” she added. “I’ll be reevaluated, and then we’ll make a decision from there. But I’m not going to rush it.”

Team Performance in Her Absence
The Fever have gone 1–2 without Clark in the lineup, struggling at times to maintain offensive flow. Despite being sidelined, Clark has remained actively engaged from the bench, providing vocal support and sharing in-game insights with teammates.
“It’s definitely a different view when you’re watching from the sidelines,” she said. “But I’m learning and trying to help however I can.”
Coach’s Perspective
Head Coach Christie Sides also addressed Clark’s progress, noting that while the team would love to have her back as soon as possible, the focus remains on long-term health.
“Caitlin is a competitor, and she wants to play, but we’re going to do what’s best for her body,” Sides said. “She’s progressing well, but we won’t rush anything.”
What’s Next
Clark is expected to undergo further evaluations this weekend. If cleared, she could potentially return early next week. However, both she and the Fever are prioritizing a full recovery over a quick return.
Stay tuned for further updates as the Indiana Fever continue to monitor their star guard’s status ahead of next week’s schedule.
