Following his dominant victory over Belal Muhammad at UFC 315 to claim the UFC welterweight championship, Jack Della Maddalena gave an emotional and composed Octagon interview that left fans inspired and fighters impressed.

Speaking with Joe Rogan moments after the belt was wrapped around his waist, Della Maddalena reflected on his long journey to the top and what it meant to become champion.

“Man, it’s surreal. I’ve been dreaming about this since I was a kid back in Perth. All the hard work, the sacrifices — it’s all worth it now. I was born for this moment.”
Throughout the fight, Della Maddalena displayed elite striking, calm under pressure, and impeccable timing, which allowed him to outpoint one of the toughest welterweights in the division. When asked about the game plan going into the fight, he said:
“We knew Belal was tough — he’s as durable as they come. But I trusted my hands, my team, and my preparation. The goal was to keep it clean, pick my shots, and not get dragged into a brawl. I think we executed perfectly.”
Rogan then brought up Islam Makhachev’s immediate call-out on social media. The lightweight champion had wasted no time in declaring his interest in moving up to welterweight to face Della Maddalena in a superfight.
Jack didn’t hesitate in his response:
“I saw what Islam posted — and hey, I respect him. He’s a great champion. If that’s the fight the UFC wants, I’m game. I’d love to test myself against the best. And maybe, just maybe, get one back for my man Volk.”

That last line drew huge cheers from the Canadian crowd, referencing fellow Australian Alexander Volkanovski, who previously lost twice to Makhachev.
As he wrapped up the interview, Della Maddalena took a moment to thank his team, his family, and his home country:
“To my coaches, my wife, my family back home in Perth — thank you for believing in me. This belt’s coming back to Australia.”
