INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark met with reporters at team practice this week, offering a much-anticipated update on her injury status following the left quadriceps strain she suffered in late May. In what was her first full media appearance since the setback, Clark struck an optimistic tone, reassuring fans that her recovery is on track.

“I feel good. I’ve been making steady progress every single day,” Clark told reporters. “It’s obviously frustrating to be sidelined, but I’m staying focused on healing the right way.”

What Happened?
Clark sustained the injury during a matchup against the New York Liberty on May 26. Though she completed the game, she later reported tightness and discomfort in her left leg, leading to her being held out for precautionary reasons. Since then, she has missed three games.
This marks the first time in her career — both collegiate and professional — that Clark has had to sit out due to injury.
Progress in Practice
While not yet cleared for full-contact play, Clark has resumed light workouts, participated in shooting drills, and has remained highly engaged during practice. She’s also been working closely with the Fever’s training staff and expects to be reevaluated later this week.

“I’m listening to my body and not rushing anything,” she said. “When I’m 100%, I’ll be back. Until then, I’m doing everything I can to help the team in other ways.”

Learning From the Sideline
During her absence, Clark has embraced a different role — that of a vocal teammate and student of the game. She’s spent more time breaking down film with the coaching staff and mentoring younger players from the bench.
“It’s been a great learning opportunity,” she noted. “You see things differently when you’re not on the floor.”
Potential Return Date?
While no exact return date has been announced, there is optimism that Clark could suit up as early as June 10 when the Fever face the Atlanta Dream. Head coach Christie Sides stated that Clark’s recovery has been “very encouraging,” but the final decision will depend on how she responds to this week’s training sessions.
What’s at Stake?
Before the injury, Clark was averaging 19.0 points, 9.3 assists, and 6.0 rebounds per game — strong numbers for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Her presence on the court has been a major factor in the Fever’s offensive rhythm and growing national popularity.
Bottom Line: Caitlin Clark is on the mend and approaching a return, but both she and the Fever are playing the long game. Fans can expect to see her back soon — and stronger than ever.
