Trump threatens to declare national emergency after DC mayor ends deportation cooperation
President Donald Trump is threatening to escalate his armed take over of Washington, D.C. after Mayor Muriel Bowser said cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement would end.
Trump told his followers on Truth Social he would declare a ‘national emergency’ and ‘federalize’ the city if the Metropolitan Police Department stopped coordinating with ICE.
Since Trump launched his crackdown last month, federal authorities have made more than 2,000 arrests, with undocumented migrants accounting for nearly half of them.
The president claimed that without ICE involvement in the DC take over that ‘crime would come roaring back.’
Moreover, Trump further claimed that there was ‘virtually NO CRIME’ in the capital under the watch of federal officers and National Guard troops.
‘Because of this, D.C. has gone from one of the most dangerous and murder ridden cities in the U.S.A., and even around the world, to one of the safest – in just a few weeks,’ Trump wrote.
‘The “place” is absolutely booming, with restaurants, stores, and businesses packed and, for the first time in decades, virtually NO CRIME.’
He added, ‘It has been a beautiful thing to watch but, now, under pressure from the Radical Left Democrats, Mayor Muriel Bowser, who has presided over this violent criminal takeover of our Capital for years, has informed the Federal Government that the Metropolitan Police Department will no longer cooperate with ICE in removing and relocating dangerous illegal aliens.’

National Guard troops from six different states remain armed across Washington, DC.

Trump threaten to declare a national emergency in DC if Bowser refuses to cooperate with ICE

Trump’s emergency powers over DC expired last month after Congress did not vote to extend his authority
Trump concluded, ‘If I allowed this to happen, CRIME would come roaring back. To the people and businesses of Washington, D.C., DON’T WORRY, I AM WITH YOU, AND WON’T ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN. I’ll call a National Emergency, and Federalize, if necessary!!!’
The president’s emergency control over the DC police expired last month after Congress did not vote to extend Trump’s authority.
Previously, Bowser issued an executive order for metropolitan police to coordinate with federal law enforcement.
The mayor said last week that her executive order requires the return to ‘the pre-emergency status quo.’
Bowser then told reporters that DC police would stop cooperating with the transportation of ICE detainees.
The Daily Mail reached out to the mayor’s office for comment.
If Trump declared a national emergency over DC, the president would be allowed to deploy the National Guard for as long as he desires.
Moreover, there are no congressional limits or time restrictions over Trump’s authority to command the Guard in emergencies.

Over 2000 troops remain in the city without a timeline for their removal

Last week, Bowser said DC police would stop cooperating with the transportation of ICE detainees.
Over 2,000 National Guard troops remain in D.C. with no timeline for a removal.
Six GOP-led states sent over troops to assist with the president’s August executive order. National Guard members patrol the city armed with pistols and rifles.
