Trump mocks Al Sharpton’s MSNBC show while calling for FCC head Brendan Carr to ‘look into’ canceling network’s license
President Donald Trump mocked Al Sharpton with an unflattering photo of the reverend as he called for the FCC to consider canceling his network’s license.
Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday to air out his grievances against the host of MSNBC’s PoliticsNation.
He also shared a photo from 1988 of a then-overweight Sharpton, donning a serious facial expression as he held onto his suspenders.
Sharpton also wore a red shirt, brown slacks and a medallion around his neck.
But in his rant about the political activist, Trump seemingly mixed up MSNBC and NBC, calling for FCC head Brandon Carr to ‘look into’ the latter for running Sharpton’s show.
‘I knew Al Sharpton for many years, not that it matters, but he was a major “TRUMP” fan,’ Trump began.
‘He’d ask me to go to his fake Rallies all the time, because I brought BIG Crowds, and he couldn’t get anybody to come without me.’
Trump then referenced Sharpton’s involvement in the 1987 Tawana Brawley rape hoax, in which a 15-year-old Black girl falsely accused four white men of kidnapping and raping her.

He described the racially polarizing case as ‘one of the worst low-level scams in history.’ He said that it set back Sharpton, who served as Brawley’s family’s advisor, ‘BIG TIME!’
‘Then he got to know Brian Roberts, Chairman of Fake News NBC, who gave him what would become one of the lowest-rated shows in television history,’ Trump went on.
‘Roberts is afraid to take him off because it wouldn’t be “politically correct.”’
Roberts is the CEO of Comcast, the parent company of NBCUniversal. NBC and MSNBC are two distinct networks under the NBCUniversal umbrella.
But Comcast announced last year that MSNBC would be spun off from NBCUniversal into a separate publicly traded company called Versant and renamed MS NOW.
Roberts’ alleged unwillingness to pull PoliticsNation, a weekend news program, from the air is why Trump said the FCC should evaluate the license of NBC – likely meaning MSNBC.
He said NBC airs ‘almost exclusively positive Democrat content.’
‘Likewise, ABC Fake News – About the same thing, 97 percent negative to Republicans!’ he added.

Trump has thrown around this 97 percent negative statistic in previous take-downs of left-leaning outlets, although it is unclear where he sourced this figure.
Sharpton recently came under fire after it was revealed that he allegedly accepted $500,000 from Kamala Harris’ campaign weeks before a gushing interview with the then-presidential candidate.
Sharpton’s sit-down with the former vice president drew scrutiny for his softball questioning, with the conservative Washington Free Beacon releasing campaign finance records that claimed his nonprofit was paid handsomely before the interview.
Harris’ campaign allegedly gave two $250,000 payments to Sharpton’s National Action Network on September 5 and October 1.
And on October 20, Sharpton’s went on to praise Harris’ ‘extraordinary historic campaign’ in a gushing interview, and branded Donald Trump ‘hostile and erratic.’
MSNBC has stayed silent over the payment, despite suspending Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough in 2010 for making $4,000 in campaign donations.
