Trump ‘considering’ extremely bold move ahead of Putin meeting amid WW3 fears

Donald Trump is set to meet with Vladimir Putin next week
Donald Trump is said to be ‘considering’ making an extremely bold move as he plans to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin next week.
On Friday (August 8), the POTUS announced that he would be meeting Putin in Alaska after his deadline for the Kremlin to make peace with Ukraine passed.
Nearly a fortnight ago, Trump suggested he would impose additional sanctions on Russia and introduce secondary tariffs targeting countries that buy Russian oil if the Kremlin did not move toward a settlement in Ukraine.
Nonetheless, the Republican president hopes a breakthrough may be on the cards as he’s set to meet Putin on Friday (August 15) to discuss bringing an end to the war.
“The highly anticipated meeting between myself, as President of the United States of America, and President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, will take place next Friday, August 15, 2025, in the Great State of Alaska,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“Further details to follow. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

A new report by NBC News has claimed Trump is ‘considering’ inviting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Alaska for the meeting.
“It’s being discussed,” one person, said to be ‘familiar with the situation’, told the outlet.
While no final decision has been made, a senior official within the Trump administration said it’s ‘absolutely’ possible Zelenskyy could be in Alaska next week.
“Everyone is very hopeful that would happen,” the official added.
When asked if Zelenskyy had been officially invited, a White House official said: “The President remains open to a trilateral summit with both leaders. Right now, the White House is focusing on planning the bilateral meeting requested by President Putin.”
Trump has previously suggested a peace deal would include some ‘swapping of territories’ – something Kyiv has continued to voice opposition against.

In a message posted to Telegram on Saturday (August 9), Zelenskyy dismissed suggestions Ukraine would give up any of its land.
“The answer to Ukraine’s territorial question is already in the constitution of Ukraine,” the Ukrainian president said. “No one will and no one can deviate from it. Ukrainians will not give their land to the occupier.
“Any solutions that are without Ukraine, are at the same time, solutions against peace. They will not bring anything. These are dead solutions, they will never work.”
According to CBS News, the White House is trying to convince European leaders to accept a deal that would see Ukraine give up territory in the regions of Donbas, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia to Russia.
