Taylor Swift Dragged Into Blake Lively & Justin Baldoni’s Explosive Legal Battle: What’s Really Going On?

In a shocking twist worthy of Hollywood’s wildest scripts, pop superstar Taylor Swift has been subpoenaed in the high-stakes legal war between Blake Lively and director Justin Baldoni—a battle that’s already roped in Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, and now threatens to spill even more celebrity secrets.
The drama began when Baldoni, who directed and starred alongside Lively in the upcoming film It Ends With Us, filed a jaw-dropping $400 million defamation countersuit against Lively and Reynolds. As the legal documents poured in, eagle-eyed fans noticed Swift’s name popping up in text exchanges between the stars—raising questions about her potential involvement in the feud.
One eyebrow-raising message included in Baldoni’s suit features him texting Lively about the film’s script: “I really love what you did. It really does help a lot. Makes it so much more fun and interesting. (And I would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor),” Baldoni wrote, adding a wink emoji. “You really are a talent across the board. Really excited and grateful to do this together.”

But as speculation swirled online, Swift’s camp was quick to slam the brakes on the rumor mill. A spokesperson for Swift declared: “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see ‘It Ends With Us’ until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024.”
The spokesperson continued, “Taylor’s only connection to the film was licensing her song ‘My Tears Ricochet’—and 19 other artists did the same. This subpoena is nothing more than a publicity stunt, using Taylor Swift’s name for tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”
Meanwhile, Lively’s camp fired back at Baldoni, accusing him and his legal team of turning a serious matter into “entertainment for the tabloids.” “This is a very serious legal matter, not Barnum & Bailey’s Circus,” a spokesperson for Lively said. “The defendants continue to publicly intimidate, bully, shame and attack women’s rights and reputations.”
The core of the legal dispute is Lively’s accusation that Baldoni engaged in sexual harassment and retaliation during the making of It Ends With Us—allegations first filed with the California Civil Rights Department and followed by a lawsuit. Lively claims Baldoni and his PR team orchestrated a “social manipulation campaign” to damage her reputation while promoting the film. In an amended complaint, she alleged that other women also raised concerns about Baldoni’s conduct on set. Baldoni has denied all allegations.
As if that weren’t enough, Baldoni’s countersuit also names Reynolds as a defendant, accusing him of secretly rewriting scenes, making unauthorized script changes, and even mocking Baldoni in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie by basing the character “Nicepool” on him. Reynolds’ attorney has called for him to be dropped from the suit, dismissing Baldoni’s claims as nothing more than “hurt feelings.”
With Hollywood A-listers, blockbuster accusations, and now Taylor Swift herself caught in the legal crossfire, this courtroom drama is only getting started. One thing’s for sure: the truth behind the headlines is more dramatic than any movie script.
