Big Changes Coming to Netflix: New TV Home Page & TikTok-Style Video Feed Announced
Netflix is about to look very different—for the first time in over a decade.

On Wednesday, the streaming giant announced a sweeping redesign of its TV home page, marking the first major facelift since 2013. But that’s not all: Netflix is also testing a TikTok-like vertical video feed on mobile and introducing AI-powered search, signaling a bold new era for the platform.
A Fresh Look for TV
The most noticeable change is the new TV home page. Instead of the familiar menu on the left, Netflix will now center its main menu, taking cues from rivals like Apple TV. Content descriptions will be more compact, and recommendations will update in real time based on what you watch, when you watch, and your browsing habits.
Netflix says the new design aims to help users find something to watch faster and more intuitively. The menu will also highlight more live events and gaming options, especially for users who have shown interest in those categories—showing Netflix’s ambitions beyond just movies and TV shows.
TikTok-Style Mobile Video Feed
In a move that could change how users discover content, Netflix will soon test a vertical video feed on mobile devices, similar to TikTok. This feature will let users scroll through short clips from Netflix shows and movies, giving bite-sized previews and making it easier to find something new to watch with just a tap.
The vertical feed will be available to select users in the coming weeks as part of a global test. If successful, it could become a major new way to browse Netflix on your phone.
AI-Powered Search
Netflix is also jumping into the world of generative AI. The company will test a new search feature on mobile, letting users find content using natural, conversational phrases like, “I want something funny and upbeat.” This opt-in beta will help Netflix learn how to make search smarter and more personalized.
Why Now?
These announcements come at a time of strong momentum for Netflix. Less than three weeks ago, the company reported record profits, calming investor nerves amid economic uncertainty and global market shifts. The timing is also notable: Netflix will present its lineup to advertisers at its May 14 upfront event, and the redesign is sure to generate buzz.
Netflix’s Chief Product Officer Eunice Kim and Chief Technology Officer Elizabeth Stone unveiled the updates during the company’s first-ever virtual “Product & Tech” event. Kim said the new experiences will roll out “in the next weeks and months,” and emphasized that the tests are just the beginning of a larger evolution for Netflix.
What’s Next?
While not all users will see these changes right away, the global scale of Netflix’s tests signals big ambitions. As the streaming wars heat up and user habits evolve, Netflix is betting that a fresh look, smarter search, and new ways to discover content will keep it ahead of the competition.
