Ashanti confirmed that the Versuz battle was a turning point, sparking the beginning of something neither of them saw coming.

She shared how, after Versuz, her DJ surprisingly gave Nelly her number. When she received that first text from an unfamiliar 314 number, she was stunned! Their first conversation, however, wasn’t all roses—it was heated. After nearly eight years apart, there were a lot of buried emotions on both sides. But through deep, honest communication, they finally started to understand each other in ways they couldn’t when they were younger.

The couple slowly rekindled their romance, taking their time before stepping back into the spotlight. Their first date? A low-key trip to Las Vegas around Valentine’s Day. And in true Nelly fashion, he made it clear where they stood financially, telling Ashanti, “You’re not my girlfriend yet, so I’m only spending $10,000. When you become my girl again, then you know.” The chemistry was undeniable, and despite believing her feelings for him were gone, Ashanti admitted they all came rushing back unexpectedly.

Reflecting on their past, she confessed that at one point, she was so done with Nelly that she had all his music banned from her performances and parties. But over time, the anger faded, and once she no longer cared, she knew she had truly moved on. Little did she know, fate had other plans.

When asked about rekindling an old flame, Ashanti gave some powerful advice: “It’s okay to spin the block if the feelings are real, and both people have grown.
